The Moon.
Real and imaginary travels (La Lune. Du Voyage réel au voyage imaginaire)

exhibition runs from 3 April to 22 July 2019 at the Grand Palais. The moon has inspired many artists over the
centuries. Some 190 artworks are on display, dating from ancient times to
modern day. The exhibition is organised in four chapters, starting with real
travel and the Apollo 11 mission. Then, like stepping into a time machine, you
travel from ancient times to modern art and discover the moon in all its
aspects: the moon and its depictions in the world of art, and the moon as a sometimes
male, sometimes female deity. Rediscover some wonderful artworks through this new
dreamlike lens, with great masters on display including Marc Chagall, Man Ray,
François Morellet, Joan Miró, Auguste Rodin and Félix Vallotton. Find out more
