If I talk to you about Mr Calder,
you will undoubtedly think of his famous mobiles which play with
weightlessness, some of them in the colours of Piet Mondrian. Well, I also
discovered the artist’s work through his paintings, his sculptures in
equilibrium and his magnificent wire portraits evocative of the clean lines of
Jean Cocteau. During the exhibition, I encountered some difficulty understanding
the dialectics between the art of Picasso and Calder. But it was a delight for
me to get to know Mr Calder better. I was greeted by extremely knowledgeable
reception and security staff and was able to enjoy a singular visit to the
museum. Two rooms were of particular interest to me. Room 10 contains a
jangling mobile! But you will have to take your time and listen carefully in
order to hear it. You can also discover his famous wire portraits in Room 3.
The Calder-Picasso exhibition will be on display through 25 August 2019. Learn more
