Body piercing since the dawn of time at the Musée de l’Homme
After more than six years of refurbishments, the new Musée de l’Homme (Museum of Mankind) opened its doors in 2015. The completely redesigned Musée de l’Homme encompasses a 2,500 m2 permanent exhibition space, the Galerie de l’Homme (Gallery of Mankind), and 600 m2 of temporary exhibitions. The Galerie de l’Homme is an immersive, highly interactive journey which seeks to answer three fundamental questions: Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? The full diversity of the human race is at the heart of this project. And now through 9 March 2020, the spotlight is placed on the art of body piercing. This practice has existed for more than 45,000 years, with a wide variety of meanings: belonging to a group, rites of passage, a sign of prestige, of submission or of beauty… or as a means of self-expression in Western cultures.
Located in the Palais de Chaillot on Place du Trocadéro, it is just three Metro stations from your hotel (on line 6).
